Task: High Pressure heated car park clean and re-sand to 450m2 of block paving

The car park had not been cleaned for several years, resulting in heavy build-up of organic matter and weeds in the block paving joints. The customer required the car park to be cleaned but to remain open in the week, so requested all the work to be completed out of hours in the same weekend.

Challenges:

No water source on site. All water was transported to site in our purpose built 2000 litre water bowser. This was used to simultaneously supply two units.
Two day possession: Work had to be completed over a weekend and the car park handed back within 48 hours.
Stabilise loose block paving.

The Process

Day 1 – The cleaning was completed using a 20 inch Mosmatic flat surface cleaner at a flow rate of 27 litres per minute and a temperature of 90*c. A second unit was used to rinse down and remove any remaining waste.

On completion of cleaning all waste was legally removed from site and disposed under our Upper tier waste carrier’s licence.

Day 2 – The blocks were visually inspected for movement and then the joints were re-sanded using 350 kilograms of kiln dried Silica sand. Once brushed in, any remining sand on the surface of the blocks was removed with a mechanical blower.

The result was a customer parking area transformed over a weekend, with no disruption to staff or clients. The car park is now safe with no loose blocks and looks in keeping for a firm of leading Solicitors.
